I am giving my lao pok comp a last try.
I reinstalling my WOW from my slower HDD (also no space le left 3 gig) into my "almost new 80g HDD with 2mb cache" Hopefully the game runs faster..... and i stop getting miserly 3fps for BWL and Naxx.... Well, at least I think it *might* run faster. Adoh!
I think I will go buy a new gfx card. Currently my rig is as follows:
AMD Athlon XP 2000+ (which translates to a miserly 1.66ghz)
1.5G RAM (Kingston of course!)
30G WD HDD 7200RPM? (or 5400? I can't rem...)
80G WD 2MB Cache 7200RPM
128mb Leadtek Ti4200 8x Nvidia card
Dunno lar.. zzz is my graphic card the bottleneck? If it's the whole rig then I don't wana buy a spanking good value zomg fast 256MB Leadtek 7600GT card for SGD290+!! (only can buy agp becos of MOBO...:cries:)
I had my rig for quite a long while, since Year 2002. No major overhaul except for the purchase of the Ti4200 card (upgrade then from a 64MB GEforce card), then HDD running out of space (can't do a full reformat as don't have XP disc), so bought spanking new 80G HDD. Then before I ran out of space for my rubbish, my SBlive card (with me since 1999) KAPUT on me, so bought expensive Audigyz2 card and a pair of nice speakers from Challenger Tampines(ZZZ EXPENSIVE PURCHASE).
Current monitor Jess bought for me. Samsung LCD Syncmaster 151s, which is a tiltable screen, cos my Phillips one 'bled' red blood on the screen and I had a really tough day (got cheated by company) so we met for lunch at Raffles Place BK then we walk down Challenger @ Funan and she bought me LCD monitor to cheer me up ^^. Ironically that was when I experienced the POORNESS of Phillips service. They took back the LCD and didn't repair it and it took almost 3 months before I got it back. First time I called up 1 week later (suppose to repair and send back LCD to my house), it was "1 month later, because parts haven't arrived from Japan", then next month I called again, same CB reply, realised they were pulling a fast one on me and keep offering me a CRT to use. I was like "I HAVE A FUCKING CRT AT HOME TYVM, AND I WANT MY LCD BACK and HOW COME EACH TIME I CALL IT'S THE SAME REPLY?" Guess what? Same week the LCD came back. As the model was quite new, my dad and I suspected that they stripped off that "spoilt part" from a brand new set to fix the LCD for me.
The fate of that adventurous Phillips LCD? It's sitting in my sister's room, as part of her RIG. Well, it travelled to Perth and accompanied my sis together with her now RIP EZ-BUDDIES.
Talking about comps, mine survived many stages. My sis had 2 casings/MB change as each time the comp fried, it took the casing with it. Her first cute/small casing is the SFF, brand EZ-BUDDIES, which had a overclocking DIAL in front of the casing. Cool eh? Well, since it fried, we got another casing, not so much as large as a medium tower, somewhat smaller and chic, with nice LED display of CPU's temperature. Needless to say, nice petite things don't last for computing, that one blew too. I still remember that afternoon we went to buy casing (brought her along so that she can pick/choose a nice casing) and then went back home to fix it: Jess and her were so tired, so went to sleep, then I was working to fix the comp, reinstall OS etc etc. Then she some more got "cheek" to say, "Shui jiao qi lai Computer fixed le" [I go sleep a while and my problem is solved] ~.~ Win liaoz lor.... Jess thinks I really spoil my sis and I think so..... :/
